Senior Projects

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

museum1.jpgThis fall the senior class began IHS’s first ever senior projects.  So far, so good!  The students are making good progress and the enthusiasm for their research is high.

hayrake1.jpgThe student chooses a topic of their choice, and they write a lengthy research paper over the topic.  They then select a faculty advisor and a mentor from the community to help them actually manufacture a product from their research.  Some of the topics are catapults, cattle feeding programs, reloading ammunition for hunting, wildlife habitat, scrap-booking, Iroquois history, book writing (yes, a student is going to write book!), woodworking, handicapped house design.  The list goes on, but you get a feel for what the project is and its variety!  If a senior should select you as a mentor or advisor, please say yes!

Tour of Homes - A New Perspective

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Can I move out? Helping Mom get ready for the Tour of Homes has been a challenge. We have spent a countless numbers of hours getting the house ready. Cleaning, rearranging, and cleaning some more. Dad has been doing little finishing things around the house that mom has wanted done for years.

She has been going nuts digging out totes and boxes full of many Christmas decorations. Mom called in help from our family “interior decorator”. My aunt came up from Mitchell one Saturday to help get the decorating done. She ended up bringing more totes and decorations along. WOW! What a mess. By the time my aunt left, Mom felt a little more relaxed about having people look through her house. Decorating still needs to be done, but they are things that can be managed in smaller pieces. I can’t wait to see how things come together in December.

Visions of Iroquois

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Paved, tree line streets, with new sidewalks and adequate street lights add to the safety and appearance to appeal to newcomers, visitors and current residents. More businesses produce more revenue and taxes which provide all the above. If we have more main street businesses to keep employment in our town, the population will increase, our school enrollment will rise, and a daycare will be needed.
